Rip and Replace

5th-level Legacy Systems & Zombie Projects

Casting Time: 1 action to initiate, though full effect takes 1d4 months (a Migration Incentive)
Range/Area: Unlimited; one rival organization’s installed customer base, where the rival is one you can identify as a competitor
Components: V, S, M (a competitive pricing offer, consumed; a data migration tool, not consumed)
Duration: Until the migration window closes, commonly 90 days
Classes: VP of Sales, Head of Growth

Choose a rival organization’s product or system. You offer their existing customers a forcible off-ramp — discounted pricing, automated data migration, a dedicated onboarding team — designed to make switching to your product easier than remaining with theirs. Each affected customer must succeed on a Tenure saving throw, representing their institutional inertia and switching costs, or migrate to your organization at the end of the duration.

If the rival’s product is itself a Legacy Servant with an unresolved Maintenance failure on record, this spell is cast with advantage.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, customers who fail their saving throw arrive already partially onboarded, skipping the disadvantage a Contractor or conjured employee would normally suffer during Onboarding.

Flavor: “Switch today and we’ll cover 100% of your migration costs — no questions asked.” — landing page, competitor’s brand name conspicuously absent
