Return to Office Mandate
8th-level Org Design & Process Change
Casting Time: 1 action to announce, 3 to 6 months of grace period
before enforcement begins, extended at least once
Range/Area: Company-wide; every workstation the organization has ever
provisioned remotely
Components: V, S, M (a memo citing “collaboration” and “culture,”
consumed; an already-signed, under-occupied office lease, not
consumed)
Duration: Until rescinded by a future caster, which historically has
not happened
Classes: CEO, Board, Chief People Officer (as a ritual, requiring
extensive legal review)
Each creature within the area of effect must make a Tenure saving throw. On a success, the creature negotiates a documented exception and is unaffected, though the exception is rarely extended to anyone else who asks. On a failure, the creature is compelled to appear in person on a fixed schedule regardless of any measurable change to their output.
A portion of the creatures who fail their save elect to leave the organization voluntarily rather than comply. Resolve this identically to a failed Reduction in Force saving throw, at no additional component cost to the caster.
The organization does not gain the real-estate utilization the memo cited as justification for this spell, regardless of the outcome.
At Higher Levels. When cast using a 9th-level spell slot, the spell closes all previously granted exceptions retroactively and extends to contractors.
Flavor: “We believe in-person collaboration is core to our culture, and we’re excited to bring the team back together.” — memo, sent six months after the office lease renewal was signed
