The caster converts a quantity of committed capital into a reserve of temporary hit points called Runway, equal to 50 times the level of the spell slot used to cast this spell. While concentrating on this spell, at the start of each of the caster’s turns the Runway total decreases by 5 hit points, regardless of the caster’s actions that turn. This reduction cannot be prevented, reduced, or resisted by any means.

While Runway remains, any damage that would reduce the caster’s actual hit points is deducted from Runway first. Runway does not return on a long rest and cannot be replenished except by casting this spell again.

If Runway is reduced to 0 while this spell is still active, the spell ends immediately and the caster must succeed on a Solvency saving throw or become incapacitated — a state corporate law refers to as insolvent — until the condition is removed by outside intervention.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the caster’s initial Runway increases by 50 for each slot level above 1st. The per-turn reduction also increases by 5 for each slot level above 1st, as spend scales to match the size of the round.
