Classical tradition: Enchantment
Sales & Stakeholder Management
Classical tradition: Enchantment
Field notes on Enchantment as practiced here: persuasion, buy-in, and negotiation as literal mind-affecting magic. Sales, account management, internal politics — anywhere the goal is to change what someone wants rather than what’s true. This is the discipline the Working Group argues about most; several members maintain they are personally immune to it, which we have started recording as a finding in its own right.
Field tone: charming, faintly manipulative, always closing. The caster wins by changing minds, not by changing facts.
Vocabulary recorded in the field: buy-in, alignment, stakeholder map, champion, close the deal, objection handling, rapport, executive sponsor, win-win, consensus building, relationship capital, upsell, cross-sell, “let’s take this offline,” “plz fix,” drive-by comment, seen-zoned.
